Technical FAQ

What kinds of product photography can be used with the Photo Studio Box? 

Use it to take jewelry, watches, diamond, gem stones, coins, toys, dolls, collectibles, and other small to medium size items.  To be used for product photo publishing on websites, auction listings, brochures, catalogs, flyers, advertisements, websites, online ecommerce stores, magazines, newspapers, trade publications, post cards, books, instruction manuals, Video, TV commercials, and other media.  Also for Appraisal or inventory control purpose.

Any assembly required?

NO.  No assembly is needed.  It is ready to use out of the box.  Simply unpack it and within minutes, you are ready to take high quality product photos with maximum flexibility and control. 

Is all accessories included?  Do I need to buy any light bulbs, tripod, background fabric, etc?

YES. All accessories are included (Power cord, LED lights, various color seamless background fabric, universal camera top mounting rack, 2 color special effect reflective platforms, etc).  No extra accessory is really needed (camera is not included).

Do I need to run electrical wires all over?

NO.  You only need to plug in the main electrical power cord, then it will power all lights and the LED lights inside the Photo Studio Box.  No need to run electrical wires all over the place. 

How easy it is to take professional product photos with the Portable Photo Studio Box?

Very Easy indeed.  Simply place the product inside the Photo Studio Box, flip on the lighting control switches.  Either take the product photo from the front or from the top.  That is!

How much time could I save using the Photo Studio Box?

Lots.  There is no guess work. No need to connect different lighting equipments, no need to adjust various lighting tripods angles or heights, no need to shield it with make-shift cloth to block external light, no need to run electrical wires all over the place to set up the lighting environment... In short, it will save you lots of time, with a better and more professional result.

Is the Photo Studio Box portable?

Yes.  it is portable so you can place it onto table top, shelf top, desk top, or take it to places best suit for taking the ideal product photo settings.  Ideal for photographers who need to take product photos on-site such as jewelry stores, manufacture offices, etc.  Two sturdy build in handles on the top of the Photo Studio Box allow you to carry it to your car and most everywhere.

Can I take product photos from the front or from the top?

YES.  You can choose to take photo from the front, or from the top.  To take photo from the top, simply remove the top center "window lid", mount your camera onto the included top-mounted bracket (mounting screws included), adjust the distance of your camera from the product, adjust the zooming distance on your camera, then you are ready.  To take photo from the front, you can remove the whole front lid for larger size product or taking photos at an angle; or, you can leave the front lid on but remove the center "window box", then you can block most external light and reduce external light distortion and reflection.  Ideal for taking jewelry or watches photos, or other products that might reflect unwanted light. 

What is the largest size of item I can place inside the Photo Studio Box?

Item up to 14" x 14" x 12.5" in size can be placed inside the Photo Studio Box Pro Version; and 
item up to 9.5" x 8" x 8" in size can be placed inside the Photo Studio Box Standard Version.

What kinds of camera is recommended for use with our Photo Studio Lighting Box?

The photos can only be as good as your camera could allow.  So use the more professional higher quality camera will definitely create a better result.  Remember, if you are using a low quality low detail camera, no matter how well the lighting can be created, the resulting photo will not be as good as using a higher quality high detail camera.  Both digital or analog camera can be used.

Do I need to adjust my camera's color setting when taking product photos?

We do recommend adjust the color setting of your camera to the optimum setting, to create the best contrast photos.  For example, if you are using white background, if the color setting of your camera is not adjusted correctly, the result photo might show some the white background being "yellowish" which is normal if you use the standard color setting of your camera.  As most camera manufacturers' factory settings are not best suited for product photography. By simply adjusting the color setting of your camera to a different setting, you could reduce the "yellowish" or "grayish" and make the photo more close to a true white color.  Simply refer to your camera's manual for instruction on how to adjust the "white balance" setting.  Usually, it simply incurs pressing the "menu" selection button on your camera, then select the "color setting" sub-menu, and adjust the color balance accordingly to achieve the optimum color setting for your photography session.  This process should only take a couple of minutes, and will greatly enhance the photography result.

Is flash light recommended?

In general, we do not recommend using flash light for items with reflective surface. Flash light tends to create "hot spot" or uneven lighting reflection onto the product.  

Can I create those "sparkle" effect on jewelry photo session?

Yes you can.  By using the included LED spot light (it comes with various color light bulbs for different effect), you can adjust the angle of the flexible and bendable extension LED spot lights, and direct the angle to shine onto the desire face of the product, you can then create that "sparkle" reflective effect which is great for showing that "sparkling" effect for jewelry, diamond, rings, watches, gem stones, porcelain vases, coins, etc, resulting in a more "dynamic" and "3-dimension" effect; instead of a flat un-glossy effect.  For example, you can adjust the LED flexible light to shine at 45 degree onto the diamond ring surface, to create a stunning and sparkle photo effect, showing the "sparkling" characteristic of the diamond ring.

What are those LED "flexible bendable light extension snake arm" shown on the pictures?

Those are our special made LED spot light (come with various color light bulbs for different effect), to either increase the lighting intensity.  Or, to add "color" for the photo session; or, to create that special lighting effect such as halo, shadow, spot-light effect as shown below:

When to use the true color panel lights, and when to use the LED halogen lights?

Use the true color panel lights when true color is most desirable.  For example, taking diamond photo or gem stone photo where true color is critical.  Use the LED lights to create special lighting effect like those shown above; or, to increase lighting intensity or to create that "sparkle" reflection lighting effect.

Can I choose how many LED lights to use?

Sure you can.  You can choose to use as many LED lights as you wish, or none at all.  Simply plug the desired numbers of LED lightings into the small socket located on the interior ceiling of the Photo Studio Box, and a couple of front switch will control the ON/OFF of these LED lightings.

Product FAQ

How many different colors of background fabric is included?

5 different color of fabric backgrounds are included.

How to change or replace the background fabric?

Simply attach the non-slip background fabric onto the interior wall of the Studio Box.  To remove or exchange the background fabric, simply pull off the background fabric and replace with another background color fabric.  You can also use your own color background fabric or paper if you prefer.

I don't want too much external light distortion; or, I want to reduce external light reflection, how could I do that with the Photo Studio Box?

For taking front photo, simply leave the front lid on and just remove the center "window box".  As such, you will have a small opening sufficient for taking photo, while blocking most external light and reduce reflection.

When I take product photo from the front, do I need a camera tripod?

Yes, it is recommended to use a camera tripod for your camera when taking photo from the front. So as to reduce any accidental movement of your camera. 

When I take product photo from the top, any way I could mount the camera to minimize camera movement?

Yes.  A universal mounting rack is included.  So you can mount your camera onto the mounting rack and take photo from the top.  This can thus reduce any accidental movement of the camera during photo sessions.

When to take product photo from the top and when to take from the front?

For example, when you are taking photo of a porcelain vase, the photo needed to be taken from the front then.  When taking a photo of a coin which needed to be laid flat, taking photo from the top would be most desirable.

Any external light needed?

Not really.  As all lighting are included, you don't really need to use any external lighting. Until under special circumstances that special light intensity or a very unique color of light is needed. Otherwise, simply make use of the LED lights or build in LED flood light would be sufficient in most instances.

Will the light inside the Photo Studio Box get warm?

As with any other LED lights, it could get warm especially during a long photo session.  We urge you not to continuously turn on the lighting for more than 50 minutes.  Turn the lighting OFF when you don't need to use it, and do not turn on the lighting for more than 50 minutes.  Turn the power off if excess heat is felt.  Do not leave the light or power on when un-attended.  Also, do not place flammable objects inside the Photo Studio Box.  Use it with care and caution, such as you would with any lighting devices.

What is the warranty period of the Photo Studio Box product?

All our Photo Studio Box products come with a standard one full year warranty.  See our warranty policy page for details.

After I ordered, how soon will it be delivered to me?

Within USA, it takes about 3 days to west coast; and 6 days to east coast
(We use UPS normal ground shipping for all shipping within USA)

To Canada:  about 7 days.  We do not ship outside of USA/Canada.

Are there any sales tax or custom duty incurred?

No sales tax is required, it is all included.  There is no custom duty for USA delivery, all delivery are originated from USA.  Custom duty might incurred for delivery to Canada.  We do not ship to countries outside USA/Canada.

What is the exchange or refund policy?

We have a 30 days exchange or refund policy.  Within 30 days from receipt of our products, if you are not satisfy, you can return for exchange or refund (shipping charge cannot be refunded).   

Do your accept credit card, check, or Paypal?

Yes, we accept all major credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discovery.  We also accept Paypal.  On checkout, simply choose the "credit card" or "Paypal" payment option.  We do not accept check. 

Will taking professional product photos help increase our sales?

Most users have indicated that by using our Photo Studio Box, they can take a more professional high quality high detail photos with greater ease, and with more control and flexibility; which in general means more appealing to customers and as such, could increase sales if you are involve in retailing.  Of course, other factors involved regarding increasing sales.  A good high quality product photo is only part of the solution, not all.  But a good detail appealing high quality product photo, compare to an otherwise low quality product photo, will sure help increase customers acceptance and thus has the potential to increase sales.  Not to mention the extra times you could save.  So you could devote more time on marketing, promotion, and on customer service.  The small investment on our quality Photo Studio Box will be one of the best Return on Investment channels for your business.
